Merry Christmas everyone.It is snowing today on this Christmas day.How wonderful it is too.I met some nice people at a charity concert for the "Save the Children" event held by our good friend Ken Saitoh at the International Relations Center in Obihiro last night and i told them that i would write something in English for them about our farm and lifestyle.I told them we are a Bio Dynamic CSA farm.They were interested in us so i would like to invite them over to our farm for a visit whenever they can come.There is not enough time now to tell all that i want so I'll briefly tell them what is a Bio Dynamic C.S.A.. First,Bio Dynamic's was introduced by Rudolf Steiner in 1924.(Please look up Rudolf Steiner on the net).The first form of "new organic" farming and in my opinion it is the best.To understand Bio Dynamic's i would recommend looking on the internet and type in Bio Dynamic Agriculture on your search engine.One small way to say what is Bio Dynamic is working with nature and her cycles.To stay within the realm of the living with your farm work.Having the right amount of land and animals for soil fertility.Pray,spray and make compost.
A C.S.A. is community supported agriculture.Check out these on your search engine too or youtube. For us we ask our shareholders to pay us at the beginning of the growing season to cover the cost of farming and living expenses.And in return we deliver a box of vegetables flowers and herbs every week to a dropoff pointin the city for 24 weeks.Usually 10 to 15 deffernt items enough for a family of 4 meateaters and 2 vegeterian for one week.They tell us it is too many vegetables and some are new to them so we add a newsletter with recipes of the "vegetable of the week".They get fresh,local,seasonal,organic produce delivered weekly.There are a couple of real good books I'd like to recommend.One is "The Farms of Tomorrow,Revisited" by Trauger Groh and Steven McFadden.The other is "Sharing the Harvest" by Elizabeth Henderson.Both are really good books and maybe printed in many languages.Please read them if you want to improve your community.I'm sure it will work in most countries.I would like to help anyone to farm without chemicals. I have many resources at my disposal.I've been involved with Bio Dynamic's now for only 7 years,but I'm convinced it is the right thing for the earth and mankind. It is as close to being self sustainable as it gets.Please get in touch with me for more about a Bio Dynamic C.S.A.. I hope these people can contact me and maybe i can help explain to them more in person.I'm sure they have heard about the green revolution from the big agriculture companies who want to sell them chemicals,but i want to introduce the grassroots revolution to them from the small farms that are working locally to improve their communities.I think that is how to save the world.Also we need to encourage people from all over the world to keep Bees.The Bees are dying because we are using chemicals to grow food and not planting enough flowers for them and monocropping,GMO,s and a list of many others problems we are doing with agriculture.There is on valley in China that has used so many chemicals there are no Bees to pollinate the pear trees there so they have to pollinate the flowers by human's with chicken feathers.The bees pollinate 1/3 of all the food we eat in the world.Do we want to hand pollinate all our favorite foods and be without honey?I need to mention Dr Weston A. Price foundation for nutrition and cowshares. Look him up too.I'm sure there are many problems around the world, saving the children is only one of them.I will do whatever it takes to help anyone to grow foods without the use of chemicals.To save the children we need to grow safe and healthy food for them and work within the local community to educate and enrich the quality of their lives.I'm here to help.Please help me to help you to save the children and the Earth.Thanks Ken for doing this event and the many other good things you are doing for our planet with your music and networking.
