happy first of july.another busy week.wednesday we buried 1 cowhorn of 501 in the pasture.here in the east not much of 501 is used.it is about half of what we use in the usa.the silica/cosmic forces are stronger in the east whereas the limestone/earthly forces are strong in the west and the clay/mediating compost forces are strong in europe and africa.more can be explained by looking into rudolf steiner's geographic medicine and hugh courtney's introduction to what is biodynamics.available through jpi in virginia.
the 24th was a flower day so we setout more chamomile and i harvested some yarrow along the roadside on our bicycle on my way to work.i cut the flowers about 6 inches of stem on them and after work pulled the flower heads off and put in a pan to dry.it is much easier to pick the flower heads off when fresh than wait till next spring or wait until dry to do it.lesson learned.this winter we will harvest lots of deer bladders.the deer here in japan are larger than our deer in virginia.the hunting season is longer too.i dont have a weapon yet so i may have too follow other hunters around and harvest the bladders that way.yarrow and deer bladders are for preparation 502.maria thun says it is best to pick yarrow in august when the sun is in lion on a fruit day.konomi says the flowers are gone by then.now at least we will try to harvest on fruit days.
the next flower day is time to look for valerian.i have never harvested valerian before this will be my first time.we have 3 or 4 plants in the garden so i know what it looks like.if you have some or know where it is growing, can you help me?valerian helps with the warmth element.it is good to use around frost.we squeeze the juice from the flower to make a liquid tea or extract.i excited about trying to find some here.konomi said her friend found the ones,now in our garden.wish me luck.valerian extract is called preparation 507.
today i made 2 bc pits just like the ones at jpi.9 brick around 9 bricks deep.until i get more bricks that will have to do.we want 7 pits.the manure for our pits will come from nakagawasan's farm until sara is ready to give us the manure we need.it is best to have manure from pregnant cows.soon we will be getting a cow from takeski han'ura.a jersey he is trying to get pregnant.by the way sara is in heat again.and we celebrated her first birthday the 28th with a clover wreath konomi made for her.we will try to make her pregnant in august.so the other pits will be from manure from our biodynamic cows.we really can't call them biodynamic cows yet.we need to feed them biodynamic feed.they are grazing on pastures we have sprayed with bc but the pastures have not been sprayed with bd compost yet.demeter has certain rules about how to be certified demeter and we want to abide by those rules.it is not easy to get started.but we are trying our best.
it must sound to you like biodynamic preparations is all we do.i wish it was so.it is one of our missions in life.among those missions is to love each other.that part is easy.we are making preps now and hope to have our own farm soon.we have cows and a home we can move.we have a partime job now on a dairy farm nearby.we milk 60 cows in the morning and evenings and have rest time during the day.but now is making hay season.so less rest time.
we got to cut hay and we tether it because it rained on it the next night.we work hard and long hours but we love what we do,love who we are with,and love where we are at.good words to live by.we are just 2 people trying to do the right thing.we have almost nothing to work with but we love each other and trust in god to help us in our mission.when i came here to japan i had nothing but faith.but so far everything we need has been provided for us with our hard work and prayer too of course.it is as if the gods know our intentions and are paving the way for us.everything is getting closer to our mission.we want to help heal the earth and improve humanity with good food for our souls.some of the things we need now is birch wood and bricks to make new bc pits.we need a truck.we need to build a shower for the winter.we need our own land.with good hard work and prayer and meditation these things will come too.what can you do for us?pray for us.help if you can.prayers can go a long way.
we had an eartquake here thursday.it was a small one.but it shook our house good but did no damage to us or our neighbors.
i found an interesting website about rudolf steiner called rudolf steiner archive.check it out please.i found some lectures there that are out of print and copied them there.very good link.
konomi is still the greatest thing that ever happened to me.may god bless her.she is working hard to bring biodynamics to japan and i will support her in everyway i can.
