2008/07/28address to members
dear members of hokkaido biodynamic association.i am a member too.our president is busy this year and needs our help.what can we do?we can make our own preps and grow and harvest the herbs we need to make our preps.konomi and i have been collecting herbs like chamomile, yarrow horsetail, and need help finding valerian.valerian is the most difficult for us to find.if you need help identifying it please contact us.we have a little bit growing in our garden but it is not enough to do anything.can you grow it or harvest it?it takes 2 years to get big enough to harvest from seed.i realize that some of you are very busy this time of year.we are too.in an association like ours we should be having elections soon.maybe it will be your turn to be president or secretary or be assign to a committee.how will you handle things.i hope i dont sound too harsh.i only want what is best for our association.i think it should be required for members to contribute more to the association, like growing herbs, managing the website,be part of some kind of committee or make some certain bd prep.i dont know what is expected from the members or how organized our organization is.these are just some of my suggestions and ideas.we have made barrel compost, preps 504,502,we have a lot of yarrow, some chamomile and we will harvest more chamomile on thursday july 31.we need valerian.we need red clay bricks to build more bc pits and some birch wood to make a birch pit.we have 2 cows soon to be pregnant for the manure for this new pits.we have no 504 to make bc or to prep our compost piles.can you make compost?we will probably buy 504 from somewhere else.504 is the 1 prep that is the easiest to make and the 1 we use the most of.if you have any ideas on how to help our president or our association please tell me or konomi or takeshisan.i dont know how to help more than we are now.it is fortunate for me to have the time to make the preparations as much as possible because i am not working at the dairy now.konomi is still working in the mornings.that gives us a lot of time to work on our farm and make bd preps.but we still need help from our fellow members and other volunteers.konomi and i really believe in biodynamics.we read our calendar of the soul almost everyday.do you?it helps a lot for you and our earth to meditate.good things happen when you meditate this way.look at the website called rudolf steiner archive.it has the meditation and a lot of good information about anthroposophy.i hope takeshisan gets back on his feet again soon.he has done a lot for us.now is a good time to show him we thank him for the work he has done until now.together we can make a strong association for the good of hokkaido, japan and the world.some of you may not be able to read this in english.some can and should share in japanese with the others who cant read my english.if you think you have the time to help us give us a call. we can let you know what you can do to help.or just comment.give us suggestions or ideas.we still need cowhorns or cowhooves badly.we are short on 504 and valerian.we need compost.we need a sprayer.we need organic feed and seed.can you find organic non hybrid corn seed?can you find other organic farmers who would like to join our association?this week we will harvest chamomile and horsetailweed and look for valerian too.lets make our association grow bigger and better.we can do it.we are all that hokkaido has.we have to help hokkaido be a leader in biodynamic because so much food is produced here.how good it would be for the world to have us lead the way in biodynamics in hokkaido.there are a lot of good farms here,we just need to help them farm without chemicals and heal the earth with the preps.we can't change the way they farm overnight, but we can lead a good example for them to follow.who is going to be the first demeter certified farm in japan?i hope it is one of us in hokkaido.the demeter certification standards will be translated into japanese soon.there is lots of work to do to be certified and for a good reason.being certified may not be economical for the farmer in the beginning but it will show the rest of the world that biodynamics is in japan and japan is doing its part to help save the earth.how can we help when we don't have enough preps for 1 bc pit.lets make lots of preps for lots of farmers not just ourselves.we wish you all success in whatever you decide to do.your comments and suggestions are very important to us.we want to work together and share in the rewards.thanks for the dandelion some of you sent.keep on sending more of the bd herbs if you can.thank you members and takeshisan and michiyosan.we look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at our next event.can you bring us something we can use?love and peace.ben.
