About Sophia Farm
ソフィアファームは、日本の北海道十勝地方の山の中にあるバイオダイナミック農場です。
この農場では、ルドルフ・シュタイナーの精神的洞察に基づいたバイオダイナミック農業を実践しながら、人と自然が調和して生きる暮らしを育てることを目指しています。
はじまり
ソフィアファームの物語は、2007年にさかのぼります。
農場主のキャンベルこのみは、アメリカ・テネシー州にあるバイオダイナミック農場でインターンとして働きました。
その農場は、世界的に知られるバイオダイナミック農業家 ジェフ・ポッペン（Jeff Poppen） が運営する農場でした。
そこで彼女は、農業とは単に食べ物を生産することではなく、土地、自然、人間、そして宇宙のリズムとの関係の中で営まれる生命的な営みであることを学びました。
そしてその農場で、現在の夫である ベン・キャンベル と出会いました。
北海道での新しい始まり
日本に戻った後、このみとベンは北海道十勝で自分たちの農場づくりを始めました。
ジェフ・ポッペンの農場で経験した
コミュニティ支援型農業（CSA） と
バイオダイナミック農業 に触発され、地域と自然の両方に根ざした農場をつくることを目指しました。
2017年には北海道本別町で100ヘクタール以上の土地を取得し、森と牧草地に囲まれた場所で新しいバイオダイナミック農場の開発を始めました。
農場という生命体
バイオダイナミック農業では、農場を 一つの生命体 として理解します。
健全な農業は、土壌、植物、動物、人間、そして宇宙のリズムの調和から生まれると考えられています。
ソフィアファームでは、次のような活動を通して、この生命的な農場の循環を育てています。
・放牧牛の飼育
・牧草地や森の管理
・ハーブや野菜の栽培
・乳製品の製造
・バイオダイナミック調剤の製造
これらの活動を通して、土地と生命の循環を支える農場づくりを行っています。
生きた農場コミュニティ
ソフィアファームは、単なる農業生産の場ではありません。
ここは
自然と共に生きる感覚を学び合うコミュニティ
でもあります。
世界各地から訪れる訪問者や学生、ボランティアがこの農場を訪れ、農場の生活や仕事に参加します。
共に働き、共に食べ、共に自然のリズムの中で過ごすことで、農業と暮らしのつながりを体験します。

About Sophia Farm
Sophia Farm is a biodynamic farm located in the mountains of the Tokachi region of Hokkaido, Japan.
The farm is dedicated to practicing biodynamic agriculture based on the spiritual insights of Rudolf Steiner, while cultivating a way of life in which people and nature can live in harmony.
The Beginning
The story of Sophia Farm goes back to 2007.
Konomi Campbell, the founder of the farm, worked as an intern at a biodynamic farm in Tennessee, USA.
This farm was run by the internationally known biodynamic farmer Jeff Poppen.
There she learned that farming is not simply about producing food.
It is a living relationship between land, nature, human beings, and the wider rhythms of the cosmos.
It was also at this farm that she met her husband, Ben Campbell.
A New Beginning in Hokkaido
After returning to Japan, Konomi and Ben began building their own farm in the Tokachi region of Hokkaido.
Inspired by the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model and biodynamic practices they experienced on Jeff Poppen’s farm, they set out to create a farm rooted in both community and ecological balance.
In 2017 they acquired over 100 hectares of land in Honbetsu, surrounded by forests and pastureland, where they began developing a new biodynamic farm.
The Farm as a Living Organism
In biodynamic agriculture, a farm is understood as a living organism.
Healthy farming arises from the harmony of soil, plants, animals, human beings, and the rhythms of the cosmos.
At Sophia Farm, this living system is nurtured through activities such as:
• raising pasture-based cattle
• managing grasslands and forests
• cultivating herbs and vegetables
• producing dairy products
• making biodynamic preparations
Through these activities, the farm seeks to support a living cycle of land and life.
A Living Farm Community
Sophia Farm is not only a place of agricultural production.
It is also a community where people learn to live in relationship with nature.
Visitors, students, and volunteers from different parts of the world come to the farm and participate in the daily life and work of the land.
By working, eating, and living together within the rhythms of nature, people experience a deeper connection between agriculture, community, and life itself.
Our Vision
The vision of Sophia Farm is simple but profound:
A farm where the people who live here,
the work that is done here,
the people who visit,
and the people connected to the farm
can all flourish together.
Sophia Farm Community is a biodynamic farm that produces biodynamic preparations and supports the development of future biodynamic farmers.
The farm is guided by Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual insights into sustainability and the protection of the Earth.
Our Hope
For us, farming is not only about producing food.
It is a way to restore the relationship between people and the natural world, and to pass on healthy land and meaningful ways of living to future generations.
Here at Sophia Farm, we hope to continue nurturing a way of farming and living that grows slowly, carefully, and in harmony with nature.
