End of 2011 CSA season comments １年のシーズンの終わりに

It is the first week of December and we got snow on our anniversary.
I want to thank the CSA members for participating in this years harvest.
Thank you for staying with us when our vegetables did not look as good as the super market kind.
Thank you for being on time (most of the time).
Thank you for your smiles as you came to the dropoff point.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and sharing your thoughts with us.
Thank you for supporting Konomi and I as we try to make a difference in the world by doing something locally and thinking globally.
Thank you for volunteering your time and labor on the farm and for the farm.
Thank you for the gifts you gave.

We made it through a tough year together and things are getting better all the time.
This next year we will have a volunteer shelter and an outdoor kitchen for them and hopefully more workshops on food related subjects.
Our garden is starting to look like a garden and with the compost we have added so far and what we will add
in spring should give us a bountiful and nutrietio us harvest.

I'm already anxious to plan for next years garden.
I hope all of you can stay on as members and maybe get your friends or family to join.
Those of you who came to see the farm,now you know what we have to work with and how we do it.
We will be operating a cow share program too this year when we start milking again.We are also seeking an apprentice to stay with us for two years.
We are considering taking on more partners or community members too.We have rented more land for pasture and grains and row crops.
We are slowly growing but we are growing and not sitting still or going backwards.
I look forward to seeing you again on the farm or at the dropoff point when we have 60 members and have some really good vegetables and dairy products to enjoy.

Plus we will have more events if we get more interested people to help organize them, like preserveing food and making pickles jams and jellis, dam building, earthoven,potato digging and many other things we can do together to learn and have fun.

親愛なるみなさんへ　2011年のCSAシーズンを終えて。
　
　12月の1週目、大雪となったその日、私たちは結婚記念日を祝いました。
　さて、私からCSAのみなさんへ、この年の収穫に辛抱してくださったことにお礼を申し上げたいです。
　私たちの野菜がスーパーで売られているように見かけが良くなかったにもかかわらず、CSA会員でいてくださったことに感謝します。
　私たちと共にいてくださってありがとうございました。
　シェアの場に来て、あなたの笑顔を見せてくださって、ありがとうございました。
　皆さんの熱意とお考えを私たちに分けてくださってありがとうございました。
　このグローバルに進もうとする世界を、私たちのローカルに生きる方法によって、少しでも世界をよく変えていこうとしている、このみと私のしていることをサポートしてくださって、ありがとうございました。
　農場でボランティアとして、またや農場のために(CSAに関わっていただいたり、お友達にお話くださったりして)皆さんの時間を割いてくださって、ありがとうございました。
　様々のプレゼントを、ありがとうございました。
　私たちは厳しい年を一緒に切り抜け、そしていい方向に向かっていっています。来年は、ボランティアのためのシェルターと彼らのための外キッチンを作り、できれば食に関するワークショップをもちたいと思っています。
　畑は堆肥を入れて畑らしくなって来ました。それでも春には気前よく、もっとよい収穫とよい栄養のためにもっと堆肥を加えなければなりません。
　私はもうすでに来年の畑のプランについて心配し始めています。皆さんがCSA会員として残ってくださること、そして皆さんの友達またはご家族が加わってくださることを願っています。
　農場に来てくださった方はもうある程度お分かりでしょう。私達が農場のどんな仕事をしなければならないか、またどのようにするのかを。　
　今年、私たちは搾乳が始まったら、牛CSAシステムを始めるでしょう。
　私たちはまた農場に住込みで学ぶ２年制の研修制度を考えています。私たちは、パートナーか共同体のメンバーも増やしたいと考えています。私たちは、放牧地と穀物と芋やカボチャなどのような作物のために借りる土地を広げました。　
　私達はゆっくりですが成長していて、止まって座ってはいないし、後ろに向かおうともしていません！
　私たちが６０以上の会員さんをもち、楽しんでいただける本当にいい野菜といい乳製品ができるとき、私たちは皆さんにファームかシェアの場でお会いできることを楽しみにしています。さらに、もし私たちがイベントを企画準備することを助けて下さる人々が得られたら、私たちはもっとイベントをしたいと思っています。例えば保存食、ジャム作り、水を浄化する水路工事、粘土オーブン作り（アースオーブン）、じゃがいも掘り、その他沢山のことが私たちは皆さんと一緒に楽しく学ぶことができます。
　もしあなたが何かご指摘、またはご質問がありましたら、いつでも言って下さい。
　本当にありがとうございました。

Dear Ben and Konomi,

It seems the whole world was under a lot of stress economically, environmentally and spiritually in 2011. It was a special pleasure to see you every Thursday in Kushiro when we picked up the nice vegetables at the drop-off. Visiting your farm, making compost, manuring your vegetable beds, sharing simple but delicious lunches (strange how everything tastes more delicious after you've worked hard), and most importantly exchanging thoughts and ideas with you both were all highlights of 2011 for me. I look forward to seeing you both many times in 2012, too. Happy New Year! Send me a postcard from Switzerland!
